10 Tips For Great Photos

Whether you hire us or not, we want you to have a wonderful experience and capture great images. So, we’ve collected these 10 essential tips that will help ensure you get great photographs for your wedding. We hope they will serve you well on your big day!

1. Start with the Timeline

Leave room for moments to breathe. Great photos come from relaxed, unhurried energy. We’re happy to help you build a timeline that prioritizes lighting, flow, and your peace of mind.

2. Getting Ready Matters

Getting ready is a part of your day you will want to remember (and it’ll warm you up to having a camera around taking your picture). Put some thought into the space you use—clean, well-lit spaces with nice natural light (windows) are great!

3. Consider a First Look

Not required—but it can create a calm, intimate moment between you and your partner before the ceremony and help you fit some of the portraits in earlier, leaving more time to enjoy the celebration.

4. Unplugged Ceremonies = Cleaner Shots

If you are comfortable doing so, ask guests to put phones and cameras away during the ceremony. This lets everyone stay present, and your professional photos stay free of distractions. Don’t worry, we have the photography covered.

5. Trust yourself and Be Yourself

Just be yourselves. The best photos come when you forget the camera is there—and that’s exactly how we like it.

6. Plan Golden Hour Time

Set aside 10–15 minutes for portraits during golden hour (right before sunset). The light is soft, warm, and magical. It is called the golden hour for a reason.

7. Think Ahead About Minor Details

Bring along any meaningful items you'd like photographed—like invites, heirlooms, or personal touches. Give them to your point person (see below) and we'll take care of styling them beautifully.

8. Don’t Worry About Posing

Our goal is to capture you naturally—laughing, moving, connecting. If it feels like you, it’s working. We’ll guide you when needed, you just relax and be you.

9. Designate One Point Person

Designate a trusted friend or planner we can rely on to help gather family for group photos or flag special moments. That leaves you alone to focus on enjoying your day, while we focus on the photography and point person will help shuffle keep things moving smoothly.

10. Just Be Present & Enjoy The Moment(s)

It sounds simple. But this is everything! So we saved it for last in case you leave this page with only one tip in mind. The more you stay in the moment, the more your photos will reflect the real joy and emotion of your day.
